I’ve been in a successful, loving and evolving relationship with my husband Michael for 20 years. We have dedicated time and energy from the very beginning to understand each other and work through our differences. It’s been work. Relationships are work.

From the first few years together, my partner and I realized the one important quality of how we could come back to the Love after we triggered each other.
Willingness
When you are willing, you can explore and grow.
When you are willing, you can learn and let go.
When you are willing, you can evolve and heal.
For things to change, you have to try new things without making it about perfection. In sessions, I’ll have you try on new ways of relating and that means allowing flexibility for yourself and your partner. Perfection is a controlling force. Flexibility is a curious force.
Your relationship is very much an atmosphere. Are you breathing in toxicity or loving warmth? Together, we can absolutely change the atmosphere in your relationship. I want you to breathe better air and jettison the old stale air.
Committing to a new atmosphere means you’ll be waking up to your part of how the toxic air forms. You’ll be able to tap into your own WISE ADULT energy, speaking to your partner with kind, clear and consise words.
This also means I will point out when you and your partner drop into the defensive, protective, withholding and resentful parts that create havoc in your love life (polluting your relationship atmosphere).
I have learned all this for myself. I used to let my ‘small parts’ have the reign of my every thought and action. I used to criticize instead of asking for what I need (and doing it with a tone of respect). So I come to each session as both a student and a teacher.
Are you willing to change your criticism into a request?
Are you willing to shift resentment and ask for closeness and a safe container for you to feel your feelings?
Are you willing to repair with each other when the small parts took you over, acknowledging it so you can meet each other as Wise Adults again?
When you and your partner practice more loving and safe gestures (words and actions), all that icky stuff from the past begins to feel less burdensome or important.
When you’re Willing to Love, you create safety every day through your actions and words.
It’s natural and normal for a part of our brain to sense threat and want to protect, defend, withhold or criticize. And, if that’s the only thing we do, the life-giving oxygen of safety isn’t available.
To be “relational” and “wise” means we do our part to acknowledge when we were acting from a protective/defensive position and start again through repairing with our partner.
To be relational means we move from my story is right and the only perspective, to considering what your partner is thinking and feeling.
To be in a healthy relationship, we have to stop presenting our case like we’re in court. And instead, we have to become undefended in a way that allows our partner to hear how it is for us without making them the wrong one.
I will help you and your partner choose better ways to communicate, connect and to heal from old wounds and habits. It is my honor to be your guide.
